LMU München
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich is one of the leading universities in Europe with more than 500 years of tradition. It offers the broad spectrum of all fields of knowledge: from the humanities and cultural sciences to law, economics and social sciences, medicine and the natural sciences. With its broad and differentiated range of subjects, the LMU has great potential for innovative research and high-quality teaching - whether at the core of the individual disciplines or in an inter- and transdisciplinary network of different fields of knowledge. More than 700 professors and almost 3,900 scientific staff members conduct research and teach in 18 faculties.

TZ Energie at Hochschule Landshut
TC Energy combines the expertise of Landshut University of Applied Sciences in energy research. Located in Ruhstorf an der Rott, TC Energy develops technical solutions for the future of energy. Their researchers are working on energy storage, intelligent energy networks, energy efficiency and energy systems, and how these components interact optimally and how they can be applied in practice. Their research focuses on CO2-saving energy storage - both in the form of inexpensive and safe rechargeable batteries, and as technologies for storing large amounts of energy in the medium and long term. Additionally, they are investigating how energy can be generated sustainably and at market prices - and how energy networks can be made more intelligent in the future, including the optimal use of energy in industry and municipalities.

Chair of Energy Systems at Technische Universität München
The Chair of Energy Systems at Technische Universität München (TUM) conducts energy research in four areas relating to energy technology: renewable energies, measurement engineering, modelling and simulation, and powerplant technology. In the area of powerplant technology the Chair has a combined cycle simulator from Siemens, which makes it possible to map all power plant processes and test the control technology of the power plant. Further competences at the Chair include CFD-supported burner design, shape optimization of blade and seal geometries, IGCC overall process considerations, ORC process simulation, modelling of gasification and combustion processes (biomass, coal), as well as CFD simulations of reaction kinetics, deposition and slag flow. The Chair supports teaching at the bachelor, master, and diploma levels.

Université du Québec à Trois Rivières
The research chairs, ''Industrial Research Chair in Environment and Biotechnology (CRIEB)'' and ''Industrial Research Chair in Bioeconomy and Regional Bioenergy (BEE)'' at UQTR represent "regional" research, with dedicated research activities to the revival of resource regions and to the revitalization of local infrastructures and expertise through the diversification of products derived from biomass. The Chair has more than 30 university, college, municipal and private collaborations at the local and international levels and has developed nearly 20 industrial partnerships, and is well known for fostering college-university-business synergy and using municipalities as vehicles for innovation. The Chair leads a team of about 15 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and leads multi-sectoral projects in emerging biomass and industrial bioprocessing sectorsThe Chair also trains students and researchers at all levels.

Centre for Interdisciplinary Energy Planning at the Universidade de Campinas
The Núcleo Interdisciplinarde Planejamento Energético (NIPE) or Centre for Interdisciplinary Energy Planning at UNICAMP is mandated to conduct studies and research in the interdisciplinary areas of energy and energy planning, as well as provide consultancy and advisory services, and to train students, researchers, and professionals in these fields. Further, NIPE seeks to influence the design and implementation of energy policies so they are an appropriate means to implement sustainable development within society.

Chinese Academy of Sciences
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was founded in 1949 in Beijing, People's Republic of China, where is remains headquartered. Today, CAS includes 104 research institutes, 12 branch academies, three universities and 11 supporting organizations in 23 provincial-level areas across the country, and is home to 80 percent of the country's large-scale scientific facilities. In total, CAS has 56 000 professional researchers on staff across the country, including 22 800 research and associate professors. CAS identifies environmental research as one of its key strengths.

Energy Institute at the Johannes Kepler Universität Linz
The Energieinstitut at the Johannes Kepler University Linz is structured in three disciplinary departments, which closely interact and collaborate on a series of topics and projects. The Department of Energy Economics undertakes research on macroeconomic assessments of different energy topics, energy supply security, smart metering, smart grids, smart regions, smart cities, energy efficiency, energy storage, behavior & acceptance. The Department of Energy Technology covers technology development and assessment of second generation Biofuels, biorefinery technology development and life cycle assessment based on ISO 14040/14044. The Department of Energy Law analyses data protection and national energy legislatives, and issues of smart metering, smart grids and privacy. The Energieinstitut holds close relationship with partners ranging from scientific institutes, universities and companies of all sectors. The scientific results of multiple projects and studies have been the driving force for innovative solutions in the energy business.

GreenCapeGreenCape is a non-profit organisation that works to drive the widespread adoption of economically viable green economy solutions from the Western Cape. GreenCape work with businesses, investors, academia and government to help unlock the investment and employment potential of green technologies and services, and to support a transition to a resilient green economy. A not-for-profit organisation, GreenCape was established in 2010 by the Western Cape Government as a Special Purpose Vehicle to support the development of the green economy in the region.
